Jacob's Story
|
Meet Jacob
Jacob
is a bright,
energetic seven year old boy who was struggling to
read and find success in the academic setting. He attended a
wonderful school and received a variety of early resource interventions
including speech therapy and the Brain Skills Program. Still
Jacob struggled to keep up with his peers.

Core
Possibilities met Jacob at a camp and
education fair for children. He was invited to attend
Astronaut
Training Camp during the summer of 2006. During this week at
camp
Jacob began his metamorphosis as a successful student and
reader!
It was identified that Jacob had poor core strength and stability, weak
eye-hand coordination, poor bilateral coordination, suppressed
vestibular activation and limited bilateral eye alignment and
coordination – all of which were affecting his ability to
read. He was also identified to have poor auditory processing
and
auditory filter systems.
Therapeutic
interventions included:
core training, music/sound therapy, vestibular activation and
exercises, eye-hand coordination skill training, brain gym exercises
and more! This initial intervention was so successful that
Jacob’s mother insisted treatment be ongoing. Her
passion
led to the beginning of the first Core Possibilities after school
program for students Pre K- 3rd grade – Astronaut
Training Class!
We made a promise to Jacob’s family to have him reading by
Christmas Break, and we are happy to report we exceeded
expectations! Jacob is now a confident successful student
with
fluent age-appropriate reading skills. His coordination
skills
are now outstanding and he is emerging as a talented soccer
player! Most recently he has begun training his mother in
Core
Fitness to help her meet her challenge of getting in shape!
We are so
proud of Jacob and wish him the best in his continuing
educational journey!
